Christmas Tree

The Christmas tree is up, a few other decorations are around the house but really I need to add more… Somehow it just doesn’t quite seem right having only the living room decorated.

This year has been very strange, so few decorations in shops… I haven’t even been tempted by pretty things and bought loads more! Good for my purse, but a little disappointing if I’m honest as I do enjoy looking around decorations.

I’m not entirely sure why the lights look blue, they’re actually white. I made a boo-boo and didn’t realise the lights I had were not white and then bought more… So have different shades…

The light has been really bad recently… So dark and grey I could actually have the lights on inside all day! It also means little to no nice tree shots yet.
Although I’d much rather have the grey skies than freezing temperatures.

Snow is due again soon, some areas of the UK have already been heavily hit. Although I do like the idea of a white Christmas!

Really lovely cheery pics Liz - feel much more in the Christmas mood now having seen them..

And I'm snowed in.. down with my mother and couldn't get home even though leaving at 2.00 pm this afternoon!

I am all in favour of Christmas decorations and lights. Anything to lighten the darkness. A white Christmas would be nice but I haven't done my Christmas supermarket shopping yet so I was hoping it would melt and reappear on Friday!

Nice tree. I havent noticed many decorations either, also seems to be a general lack of enthusiasm this year around people I know. My tree lights have been on a lot due to low light levels

Hi Tricia,

Hope you managed to get home today! We all need the temperatures to rise a little more so the ice/snow can melt, but it looks like it'll be a while yet!

I'm glad you're feeling more festive after seeing the photos, if you like you can wrap my presents for me? ha. Normally a job a relatively enjoy but this year things just aren't happening.

Hi Easygardener,

I'm the same, I too haven't done the food shopping yet, but I have been emergency shopping in case we get dumped a load of snow and my parents are unable to get here for dinner. So I already have most things, just not the fresh meat, veggies and dessert.

Hi Helen,

I wonder what's going on this year? So strange, all this lack of enthusiasm for anything, normally I'm the first to admit I love Christmas and get excited in summer in anticipation for the coming Autumn, Bonfire Night and then onto Christmas.
This year is the first neighbours on our street have decorations in their windows, so I've put some up too. Certainly looks more festive on the street in general - now I did get excited for that!!! Simple things in life... :)

Now for wrapping the presents, mmmm not looking forward to this at all.

I always think that when the tree is up that Christmas has well and truly arrived :) Hope that you enjoy the festive season Liz. I wish you all the best for Christmas and happy gardening in 2011 xxx

Lovely tree. I made the mistake of buying LED lights for mine this year. Firstly, didn't notice that one set was blue and the other white. Secondly, the light is so harsh I can't bare to see them, they overwhelm the lovely mellow colours of the decorations. So they remain turned off. I wanted the eco option but this wasn't quite what I had in mind!
