Macro Monday

Heuchera flowers may not be flouncy, garish or exuberant… They sure are pretty though!

You found a very interesting way to show these blooms, Liz!

Hi Liz. What great macro shots. I love the airy blooms on the heuchera plants. Have a wonderful week.

Hi Liz....beautiful. I love heuchera flowers for that very reason, their simplicity. A lot of the wild flowers I grow are tiny fragile looking blooms. That is the very reason I love them.

NICE!!! I agree...I love the way you feature these shots.

I agree Liz they are lovely plus the bees simply adore them too.

Hi Carol,

Thank you very much!

They really don’t look up to much, do they but get them in the right light and suddenly they become very magical, plus the hoverflies love them, so they’re very welcome in my garden at any time now!

Hi Tatyana,

Thank you :) I do try to find alternative views for plants, this often involves laying on wet grass, admittedly… But it’s fun and I like to get up close and personal!

Hi Lona,

Thank you very much, I’m glad you enjoyed the photos! I just need to get some other types of Heuchera, until now I’ve always avoided them because they seem to be everywhere, but I have shady areas I need to fill and now I also know the insects like the blooms, they will definitely become a feature in the garden.

Hi Cheryl,

As you know, I am no fan of blousy flowers, frilly are a no-go and generally I do not like double blooms… But if they’re loved by the insects then they can stay – even yellow can!!! :)
I’m umming and ahhhing about getting some Epimedium (barrenwort), they’re on off online at the moment and they’d be fantastic in my shady parts but I’m just not sure… Their flowers are lovely and delicate too.

Hi Kimberly,

Thank you kindly, the late summer sun is wonderful for its soft, orange light… I am enjoying this time of year, cooler nights with warm days, much easier to cope with!

Hi Rosie,

Ah yes, thanks! I hadn’t heard that Bees and such love them otherwise I would’ve got some a long time ago, but yes I have now discovered that the Hoverflies especially seem to love them, so of course they will now be a regular feature in the garden.
