Dandelion Clock and Sawfly Larvae


Update!!!

Isabel has just posted the shortlist for the 'Wild Thing' section of her Photography contest over at Fennel and Fern and I have another image shortlisted - my Sawfly Larvae!

I shall be voting for you after I have written this comment Liz. I particularly like the Sawfly Larvae. Am I right in thinking you had difficulty identifying it originally? I remember being extremely impressed with it when you first posted it and I seem to remember I tried to ID it with no success.

Yep indeed I did have difficulty identifying the caterpillar/larvae, someone on a forum mentioned it looked like a Sawfly on a website she had... I have to agree that it did look like it - was of the opinion that Sawfly have different back legs to that of Caterpillars, but obviously I was wrong! I also couldn't find any indication of the specific Sawfly being in the UK - most websites were US based. But as I've never found anything else as close, I'll go with it being a Sawfly :)

(Sorry, I forget which type of Sawfly it is now)
