Sunday Safari

Not quite a real Sunday Safari as I am posting this on Saturday evening…

The day started mixed, some heavy rain sadly put a stop to my attempts at turning the new border, digging up the clay and cutting the shape out of the turf…

Quagmire anyone? Little wonder the grass was always so poor…

Now I have to hope it stays dry enough for a day or two…

Tulipa 'pink impression' will soon be flowering

My neighbour's Forsythia reaches over the fence... Mine is in flower too, but this was easier to get shots of!

A sneaky Caterpillar... I hope it doesn't desecrate the Russian Dwarf Almond.

Hellebore or Astrantia???

Fuji Cherry is teasing me now. This little beauty will replace the Laurels I took out.

Raindrops on Aquilegia

Daffodils... No idea what type, I just planted them without thinking.

Alpine Strawberries, all the way from Cheryl's garden

Dicentra, I intended on moving them to a shady area... Too late yet again!

Brachycome

More Anemone

I've actually found yet more white ones... They reproduce quickly!

Cupid's Dart seedlings

Early Tomatoes

I took advantage of the nice weather and got some more seeds sown, there's a range in those little pots and I am most anxious to see if the Dierama sprout...

In addition to flowers I also sowed some early Carrots, Garlic Chive and Dwarf Beans.

Muscari

Rain! :O Whoa! I desperately need some here. Seems everything's coming up there showing their cute little baby faces! Nice shots of the blooms. Have a great weekend!

I'm glad I'm not the only person who doesn't know what daffodils they've planted, I haven't got a clue what mine are either! Lovely photos. Happy Easter

I sure can relate to quagmire - I need to buy some grass seed soon. We've had hailstorms all weekend with brief interludes of glorious sunshine. Lovely photos of all your spring shoots.

Happy Easter Liz

Hi Chandramouli,

It's been rather dry for the past few weeks here and only over the last few days have we finally had rain - I've been watering plants on pots near the house!

Although no doubt it's no where near as dry as India... :)

Hi Su,

Haha, well these Daffodils came in a 'Spring bulb' collection, I paid no attention to the Daffs as they were intended for my mum, but she didn't want them... I know I also have 'silver chime' and 'rainbow' but these little ones on this post are a mystery.

Happy Easter, I hope you've had a lovelyday :)

Gosh Liz you have a garden full of blooms. That cherry does look beautiful......

Some of my seeds have not sprouted which is disappointing. I will leave them and keep my fingers crossed.

Glad the alpine strawberries are doing well. Have you grown them before??

My garden is very waterlogged....what a pain eh?? I shall leave it for a while until it starts to dry out a little....

Enjoy Easter Monday.....

Hi Rosie,

Sorry to hear you've had hail, here it's been really rather nice and apparently it's going to be similar for the next few days which should allow me to get the border ready for the soil/compost/plants.

I'm really very angry with the previous owners who apparently were quite keen gardeners, it's becoming more obvious as the years pass that they actually had no idea at all what they were doing when they relandscaped the garden.
The guy was a landscape gardener! I'd be so angry if I'd paid for him to do my garden.
It's clear they didn't put any topsoil down at all under the turf they laid, which is why I'm having massive problems now.
It's back-breaking work!

Beautiful photos. Your dierama should sprout nicely. I sowed mine a couple of years ago - they haven't flowered yet so it's a bit of a long-term project.
The new foliage of Dicentra is so fresh, isn't it?
