Quick Update

I’m off to Norfolk for a week, and knew all my fans out there would be wondering where I’ve disappeared to if I didn’t update ;) only joking

These photos were actually taken a few days ago, I’ve been somewhat mia after an emergency visit to the hospital :(

We have our first little pea pods… we have a couple more since this photo

More geraniums are in bloom, there’s this lighter type and then two that are more fuchsia in colour

The Bluebells are still blooming – a surprise!

The sea of Alliums is beginning to end… Impressive though, do you agree?

Sweet rocket… well what can I say? Very impressed, this is the first year I’ve tried it and I think I’ll definitely have some next year

Oh and it’s that mystery flower that I still haven’t taken the time to go get the label….

Brook Thistle, it had a Carder Bee hanging to it this morning, no photo though sadly

Roseraie de l’hay is blooming now, I love its perfume and have a flower floating in a dish of water to brighten the house up.

The alliums really are impressive. What a beautiful "sea" of them :-)

Liz your alliums are just so pretty. I have enjoyed mine this spring also and am making plans to add more this fall to the garden. I love the Rockets too and love to see in the spring where they will come up next.

Beautiful alliums, love the mystery flower, and I've fallen in love with sweet rocket this year having grown it for the first time too. But - hospital? Sounds horrid, hope you are OK. Oh, and I would miss you, although I have been crap at keeping up with blogs without email subscription options recently, hence the late response...

Hope that you are having a great time in Norfolk Liz. Sorry to hear that you have had to seek urgent medical attention ~ hope that all is ok with you now. I spotted the first pea pods at the allotment today :)

Ok, so the alliums are truly stunning, and fabulous photos, but honestly...I'm hoping the emergency 'MIA' visit to casualty turned out to not be so serious after all? Gardens will always be there...your health however is most important!

Hi Liz,

Hope you are having fun in Norfolk and lots to treats....

Yes I do agree, the alliums make a wonderful display. I am going to add to mine next year, despite the fact the rabbits try to get at them.

Sweet rocket is so pretty. I really love the scent. Have you had any butterflies visit it.
Mine had several attached the other day......

Hi Patricia,

Thank you very much, there does seem to be far too many Alliums around the garden, although I do appear to have lost a few... There aren't any in one of the borders this year, when last year I had around 10 :(

Hi Lona,

I've already sown some more Rocket seeds for next year, as I'm definitely a fan now and will most certainly want to have them next year too.

Hi Janet,

The Mystery flower is basically a Marguerite :)
Yep, hospital... I went to the doctor on Wednesday morning, intending on getting some antibiotics and instead ended up being referred to the hospital, and spent the next two days in hosp just before I was meant to go away. Then the painkillers sent me mad, so couldn't take them because I must have a sensitivity and the antibiotics left me light headed and dizzy. So it's been a struggle to take them and try to remain feeling human.... However, the holiday was very nice otherwise!

Hi Pam,

I didn't end up in the emergency no, I ended up in the surgical assessment ward and then a general ward... :/
I've come back to even more roses blooming, some in the front garden have also opened and very long grass because my boyfriend didn't mow it for me as I'd asked... So I've had to run out this evening and get it all cut... It grew crazy fast!

Hi Laura,

Thanks, the holiday was very nice actually and we didn't get any of the rain forecast; although it was mostly cloudy it was will warm and muggy so never cold. It looks like Norfolk has really suffered over the past winter and very hot/dry spring. Grass everywhere is dead, and it's all looking very barren.

Hi SG,

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Hi Donna,

Yep, pretty much a Daisy... it's a marguerite basically.
My Alliums are now almost finished sadly, although I do have a different type just coming into bloom now.
At the moment it's the turn of the Roses, Sweet Rocket and Lupins that are stealing the show :)

Hi Anna,

I had a very nice time in Norfolk thanks, and am mainly past the whole hospital visit although I am still quite careful and have to keep clean to ensure no infection can set in.
We have quite a few flowers now, and my pea pods must be around 10cm... So I'm looking forward to them bulking up.

Hi CV,

Thanks, I'm feeling better now thank you. Although I was struggling with antibiotics making me feel ill/dizzy/weak.
I had a very nice time away and spent perhaps a little too much :)

Cheryl,

I had a very nice time in Norfolk thanks, the weather was warm and muggy without being too hot. So it was generally very comfortable to travel around.

You could perhaps grow the alliums in baskets and then plant them into the garden when they're almost ready to bloom. That way they get the chance to grow before the Rabbits get to them. Or grow them in a nice ornamental pot and then place the pot in the borders as they bloom and remove once spent?
I haven't seen any Butterflies on the sweet rocket, no... Although I have read that pretty much every type of Butterfly love them; so I've sown more for next year to make sure I have plenty around for the flutters.
