Macro Monday – Argyranthemum

Let’s have some nice pretty shots of Argyranthemum - Lemon Anemone, it is actually in a hanging basket that I made and intended to go by the front door… The problem with that is, the basket’s looking very nice, and needs a little longer for everything to come into flower, however I know as soon as it’s hanging by the front door I’ll forget about it and fail to water it regularly. Plus I’m also far less likely to take photos of it, as it’ll be a) too high and b) I don’t often photograph the front garden.
Perhaps I’ll have to place it on the hanging hook by the back door instead and just buy something for the front??

Any excuse to buy more!

So pretty Liz. White always brings about peace and tranquility.

I have five hanging baskets, each year they get battered by the strong winds that sweep this garden.
This year four of them contain ivy and one is full of hanging basket plants. I feel much happier with that because I only really have one to worry about now!!

Hi Cheryl,

I'm thinking perhaps I shouldn't have planted two in the basket, but it is making a nice statement... I also have a few Verbena in different shades of purple, a double blooming white petunia with purple veins, a white thing I don't know the same of, a Nasturium and some dangling basket plant that you see everywhere with salvia-like flowers... One of the post also had a free sweet pea in it for the ride, so I decided to keep it in there to see what happens.....
You can actually see the sweet pea in one of the shots! :)
It is looking very nice and I'm proud of myself as normally baskets I make are rubbish and consequently I don't bother with them, but this one is very pretty.

I had to chuckle, I sounded like Porky Pig trying to say Argyranthemum out loud ;) Fortunately, I don't have to pronounce them to enjoy them. Such lovely daisy-like flowers, and beautifully photographed too Liz!

such pretty flowers and photos. what a good ide to put them in a hanging basket at eyelevel so as to catch sight of them on your wanders through the garden x

Such pretty photos for such an awkwardly named plant. What a tongue-twister! My poor hanging baskets are living in the garage again this year - I just couldn't keep up with watering them.

My vote is for the back door Liz :)

Hi CV,

Hahaha, now do you see why I kept on referring to it as the plant I cannot remember the name of? :P lol, we'll just call it a Daisy shall we? It's not like we're committing a crime!

Hi Ginny,

Thanks, I'm glad you liked them :)
At the moment the basket is actually living on a little table we have on the decking by the house... And I'm beginning to think I should probably take out the Nasturium because the Petunias will both get large enough to fill the basket on their own. The Nasturium can then go in its own basket I think... Just need to find the time to do it; it'll have to wait a few more days.

Hi VW,

Yep, it isn't an easy name and perhaps just easiest to call it a Daisy, it looks similar enough that I don't think anyone will get too upset :)
I know how you feel regarding hanging baskets... Usually mine just wither away and die because I don't water them enough... This one is only getting watered because it's with all my other seedlings and young plants waiting to be planted. I did put water retaining gel in the basket though and hope that'll give it a little boost so that once I do hang it, it won't die!

Hi Anna,

Back door sounds like an excellent idea! It is a south facing position though so will require plenty of watering, but I am far more likely to remember with it being there as I'm always in and out of the back.
