It finally arrived!! Woo hoo, so excited. The courier even waited for me to get home before arriving… Was surprised to hear a knock at the door at almost 5pm, I guess some really do work past lunchtime!

* Do you realise how expensive these are now?? They've shot up in price, the rest will have to be grown from seed...
With any luck I can get digging this weekend, right after I've bought all the compost/topsoil though.

ReplyDeleteI know people lost dieramas last winter due to the extreme cold so maybe the same has happened this year and thats why the price has gone up. I have some growing from seed butyou do have to be very patient

That sounds like an exciting delivery. My dieramas *appear* to have made it through the bad weather. PG is right about having patience growing them from seed!

I hear they take a good few years to flower, is that correct? I wish I had sown them in late Summer now...

A little concerned the pheasant's tail grass is the wrong colours to go with my plants... But we'll see!
So far all I'm doing at work is daydreaming of being home and getting out into the garden. Not that I could do much without the compost and top soil.
Looks like I'll have a while to wait before I manage to get them in, perhaps that's a good thing - being sheltered from the cold...
Lucky you having half term... Glad to hear you're taking it slowly, no good pushing yourself and getting even worse. Too many times I've done that and finished off in a worse place.
It's such a happy day when plants arrive in the mail! I've got a few on the way and can't wait, though I'll have to, since spring is a long time away here.

Spring... Hmmm I think it's still a distance here too, we're back to cold weather and strange snow blizzards, bright sunshine and clear skies, then blizzards... Very strange, but at least it isn't settling.

I am not planting quite yet, but do plan on doing so in the next few weeks with any luck. I do have the first week in March off, so if not before then hopefully definitely during that week.
Some of the plants I have bought recently already have fresh growth, so they must think it's time for planting, at least!

I have a week off in early March and hope to get the work done then instead... I need to get the compost before I can do anything really... I do not want to dig the turf up only to have cats/fox use it as a toilet!

My mature plant looks ok, but these 4 new ones do not look good and I cannot see any signs of new growth on them at all. I'll keep a close eye for anything.
I can understand your foot fear, my best friend's brother had quite phobia and he and his sister would tease their brother with bare feet!
