Finally!

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been seen the Fox couple pretty much every night, I no longer even have to wait long before one comes along… Perhaps it’s because I now know they’re generally active from 8/9/10pm depending on the weather and whether it’s dark enough :)

A couple of nights ago I saw the Fox for the first time in our garden, we’ve known they’ve come in all along, as we’ve had pots and such dug up. It wasn’t until recently that I discovered why they’ve been digging the pots up – it’s to bury and egg there!

So, tonight I camp out in the spare room waiting to catch them. I’d finally decided to actually change the lens to the rubbishy kit lens. The reason for this is because it’s simply too dark for my other lenses and all the photos I’ve ever managed to get have been blurred, so I’ve had to sacrifice close shots for a half decent shot that you can at least see what it is!

:D

Ok, so I’ll let you see the fruits of my labour… Ok so I was probably only sat there for 20 minutes, I’d seen both of the Foxes, but was still unsuccessful getting a good photo, and then:

It begins to check the pots

And gives up, so decides to bury it behindthe Weigela instead.

And it's all hidden now. Just checking the pots again for next time I assume.

Relaxation

Well, after a rather nice and relaxed week off it’s getting to that point where I’m dreading going back to work :(

So, what have I done this week??

Had my hair cut
Met mum in town and spent hours doing seemingly nothing – had planned to go to the Vivienne Westwood exhibition but didn’t in the end
Gardened

And that’s about it, how did that take up a week?!!! I must’ve done more than that!!

Oh, yes we had a guy come round with the kitchen designs he’s come up with. Not sure which to go for yet, I’d actually like my mum to have a look, see which she thinks. Also I need to know how much they’d want for it, my uncle will fit the kitchen if they’re asking a stupid amount (as most big places do!)
I’d rather not buy from somewhere like B&Q or MFI because they aren’t made to fit, where as I know these ones will fit fully and I’ll have no silly little gaps in places.

I think it’s about time I updated our bird list:

Blue tit
Great tit
Coal tit
Long tailed tit
Robin
House Sparrow
Blackbird
Starling
Wren
Blackcap
Feral Pigeon
Collared Dove
Wood Pigeon
Dunnock
Goldfinch
Greenfinch
Song Thrush
Bullfinch
Magpie
Crow
Swift
Tawny Owl
Sparrow hawk

I’m seriously lacking in the warbler department… How can I change that?!!

It’s been a nice week for the most part, some days have been mixed like today, brilliant hot sun with a very quick heavy downpour. Luckily there was more sun than rain though!
I had a rather long fight with a small shrub that keeps on growing babies! I’ve had to remove it… Rather interesting battle I have to say, Pete and I hacking, cutting, digging away at its root. Boy, if it manages to spring new shoots from that we might have to blow it up!!
Not looking forward to digging up the buddleja over winter, that’s going to be far more hard work! :)

Sprawk

This evening I had another new visitor...

Perhaps not the type you want but:

Does this solve the mystery of the dead Bullfinch? I'm not sure I want to go into the technicalities of how each predator kills, eats and leaves their prey.
As amazing as it is, I'm pretty sure I will be less than happy if it's a regular visitor. Perhaps it was casing the area, I'm not sure if there's any easy angle for it to come in at without being spotted - I hope so anyway.
Sorry about the poor photos, it had gone 9pm and storm clouds had come over although it hadn't begun raining yet. The camera was seriously struggling, thankful for IS on the lens.
